Sydney Half for Oli
Donation protected
In January of this year, one of my closest friends Oli passed away following a brave battle against the most lethal and aggressive form of adult brain cancer: Glioblastoma Multiforme. He was 26 years old.
Oli was truly one of a kind and his strength and determination to just get on and live life despite everything he was going through is something that will continue to inspire all of us who loved and knew Oli.
Oli and I used to run together most evenings during our school life, often starting with us jokingly cursing at each other because I was always late despite Oli always having to leave earlier to come and get me en route!
He helped me get better at my running and encouraged me to go for a run even when I wasn’t feeling it or being lazy and pushed me even when I wanted to quit. He stood guard during my non-finest hours on hungover runs....(!!!) and helped me hobble back home after tripping on a run and cutting my knees open hours before prom, laughing it off and consequently labelling our most challenging hill ‘bare gash hill’.
I am so lucky to have had the best running buddy and saw it fitting to run a half marathon in his honour. Mark and I will be running the Sydney Half Marathon on the 19th May to raise money for the Oli Hilsdon Foundation, a charity which has been set up by his family that will fund research into treatments for Glioblastoma Multiforme.
Please help us raise money for this fantastic charity that will fight to increase survival rates and treatment opportunities in people living with this devastating disease.
