Handicap Swingset in Memory of Joann
In loving memory of Joann Zakrzewski
February 12, 1985 - July 7, 2016
On July 7th we unexpectedly lost the most beautiful soul at just 31 years old. Joann was an incredible friend, teacher, aunt, cousin, niece, sister and beloved daughter. She impacted so many lives with her enormous heart and sincere kindness. The impact she has left on our lives and the lives of so many others has inspired us to give back.
Joann was extremely passionate about working with children with disabilities. In her honor, we are asking for your assistance to raise enough money to purchase a handicap-accessible swing set for a public park in Clifton, which will benefit disabled children in our community.
Joann was an active member of the Clifton community. She was a highly regarded teacher in the preschool special education program at School #16. She was the recipient of the Excellence in Education award due to her tireless efforts to enhance the lives of every child she came in contact with. In addition to being an educator within the school district, Joann went beyond the classroom and often tutored many of her students at home as well. She was involved in raising awareness for autism, which is something that personally affected many of her students. She also assisted in organizing the Special Olympics in her school, as she was always willing to help in any way that she could. On her 30th birthday, Joann selflessly organized a huge tricky tray event and raised over $14,000 for the Make-A- Wish foundation, something she was also exceptionally passionate about.
Joann's compassion and love for all children has left a lasting impression on many lives and we intend to continue her legacy of giving back. A loving, caring, and genuine individual was taken from us way too soon and we would like to honor her in a way that we find most suitable.
Please help us reach our goal in any way that you can. With your generous donation, we can work together to enhance the quality of our public parks for the benefit of all children, as Joann would have wanted.
Sincerely,
The Family & Friends of Joann Zakrzewski
