Swimming the Channel for Laura

Donation protected
Laura is 19 years old and was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme in October 2018, after a brain scan which showed 6 brain tumours.  Laura is an incredible young woman; facing a very poor prognosis (survival rate following diagnosis is typically 12 to 15 months with fewer than 3 to 5% surviving longer than 5 years) she wrote a bucket list.

Laura's list of wishes has taken her on many adventures since, despite being very ill whilst undergoing treatments. Laura has also become a teen ambassador for The Brain Tumour Charity, raising awareness of the fact that survival rates for brain cancers lag behind others. Laura is a fighter. Laura is amazing.

In September 2019 I will be swimming the English Channel with the USwim Dover Souls:Team Golf. We have been training pretty much since Laura's diagnosis back in October and have several epic challenges along the way. We will be swimming the length of Ullswater TWICE as a team, completing a 32km night swim Swim the Channel Up North, I'll be swimming 10k solo at the Great North Swim, Pier to Pier in Blackpool, and much more...

Our swim will follow Channel Swimming Association rules meaning no wetsuits, jumping off boats into the world's busiest shipping lane, facing cold water, tides, jellyfish and sea sickness.

I want to raise as much money to support Laura in her treatment, to achieve her dreams and to add my support to her campaigning.

Please give what you can.

This summer, when I swim, I am Doing It For Laura.
