Our Story:

The Girls Swim Team practices and competes at the aquatic facility at the Sequim YMCA. Recent modifications to the facility have challenged the team, but the city of Sequim and the YMCA combined to ensure the continuous success and growth of the team.  Despite improvements, the facility is lacking an adequate timing system for competitive swim programs.

Over the past eight years, the Sequim Girls Swim Team has grown steadily under the relentless guidance of Coach Anita Benitez.  During the last season, the Lady Wolves were more successful than ever.  Through the drive and motivation of an incredible freshman corps, the Wolves sent nine ladies to the District Championships where they finished eighth in the most competitive District in the state of Washington.  They sent an unprecedented seven ladies to the Washington State 2A Championships where they ranked 22nd out of 32 teams across the state.

What is Needed & How YOU can Help:
The competitive swim programs listed above need an aquatic timing system for precision measurement. An aquatic timing system reduces human error that is introduced when volunteers use stopwatches to measure the events. Currently this is the only method available to the competitive swim programs. Through a recent market analysis, the Sequim High School Girls Swim Team Booster Club found a system that would provide all of the functions that the local competitive aquatic programs need. The Booster Club is asking friends, family and the community for assistance is making purchasing a timing system along with other equipment that the swim teams a possibility. While we have already reached out to businesses in the local community, this is a large endeavor we are trying to achieve and support as to come from everywhere.

Colorado Timing Systems can deliver and install the entire system, including the timer, touchpads, starting computer, and scoreboard for $22,104.  The Sequim High School Girls Swim Team will focus fundraising efforts on the purchase of the timing system prior to the start of the 2017 season.  And while the timing system is vital, other equipment is needed to help the swim team succeed such as potential new starting blocks, paddles to help teach efficient and effective stroke technique and pull bouys.

Thank you!
It might seem like a daunting effort but the future looks bright for the swimming programs in Sequim but we need your help! A little can always go a long way and the team needs all the support from the local community. While it might not be possible to thank everyone individually, the result will be seen in the times and accomplishments the girls will achieve in the end! If anyone would like to make large donations please contact us!
