Essex Police Dog Baloo’s career was cut short when she was struck by a suspect’s car fleeing a crime scene in October. Unfortunately her injuries were so severe her front right leg had to be amputated and she had metal plates screwed into her pelvis. She is undergoing hydrotherapy and physiotherapy as part of a treatment programme at Writtle College. Her rehabilitation will be lifelong.  We are raising money for Essex Retired Police Dogs Fund and any donation will help Baloo and other retired Police Dogs. We are outdoor swimming 6 miles up the Mawddach estuary at the base of Snowdonia on 28th September 2019 in an event called The Hurly Burly! Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

More information about Essex Retired Police Dogs Fund: Essex Retired Police Dogs Fund helps pay for veterinary treatment and other costs involved in caring for retired police dogs, whether these dogs remain with their police handlers or if they are re-homed.

The sea training started about 6 weeks ago, we haven’t had one flat day yet but it is making us stronger with our pace at the lake improving. 6 weeks to go so we have to work hard for the next few weeks. The water temperature at the lake peaked at over 20 degrees which was lovely it’s dropped to 17 degrees now after the recent rainfall and cooler air temps.
All worth it for the lovely retired Police dogs

First openwater swim, water temperature 11 degrees, we were not allowed to say it’s cold but it’s not as warm as it could be instead! Couldn’t feel our hands and had no control over them

How it Works
  1. You are donating to PayPal Giving Fund UK, a registered charity (No. 1110538), which will email you a receipt for your donation and claim Gift Aid where eligible.
  2. GoFundMe’s platform is free. The charity will typically receive the funds from PayPal Giving Fund within 15-45 days of your donation if the charity has enrolled (or 90 days if the charity has not yet enrolled). Unlike other platforms, 100% of any Gift Aid will go to the charity as well.
* In very limited cases, a recommended charity may cease to meet PayPal Giving Fund's legal or other eligibility requirements. In such cases, PayPal Giving Fund will reassign the funds to a similar charity, and (wherever possible) seek a new recommendation from donors.
