Study Abroad in Dominican Republic
Donation protected
Hello and thank you for taking time out to read this.
My name is Dontray Crump and I am a current student at the University of Houston where I major in public health. Recently, I learned that I was one of the twenty-two students selected to participate in a Global Health Learning Abroad Program in the Dominican Republic. During this 14-day program, I will attend educational courses related to complex global health issues, participate in Spanish language training sessions and explore the history and culture of the local community. The program begins on May 14, 2018. Yes, this event is approaching rapidly!
Participating in this program will allow me to learn how public health issues face other areas of the world and how global health policies can affect local communities. Studying abroad will give me the chance to understand the perspective of a different population and a different culture. This experience will help me to gain a unique viewpoint on global health as I continue my pursuit of a PhD in Epidemiology. Eventually, I intend to pursue a career that focuses on improving the lives of African Americans though education, economics and health.
This is an amazing opportunity. However, it is not free. I am seeking $4,600 to cover my expenses. The breakdown of expenses is below:
$2300 – Program activities, hotel accommodations and food
$800 – Roundtrip flight
$1500 – Tuition
These expenses are due on May 7th, 2018.
By supporting me, you will be making a difference in my education and affirming that dreams do come true. No donation is too small. A little goes a long way.
If you are unable to donate, spreading the word by sharing this page would greatly help as well.
