Shenandoah Valley Contra Dance is a non-profit dance organization located in Harrisonburg, VA. Contra dancing is a fun community-oriented activity for all ages. Our dances have been around for over 20 years...and so has our sound system! We are in desperate need of new sound equipment (mixer, cables, microphones, microphone stands, transportation cases, etc.) and need funds to help replace and expand our current, well-loved, but retirement-ready system.
This is an on-going campaign and we are looking to purchase and replace pieces as we are able. Our priority is to purchase a few new microphones and stands. New instrument and vocal microphones (Shure SM57 and SM58) cost about $100 each and the stands we are looking at purchasing are about $25 each (On Stage Microphone Stands). We would like to get at least four new microphone stands and two of each microphone which comes to a total of $475.
A working sound system is important to us because we host dances every week and each dance features live music and calling. Dancers need to be able to reliably and comfortably hear the music and calling in order to fully participate in and enjoy the dance. On occasion a larger band may play for one of our dances and, let's be honest, our system is stretched to the max.
Help us serve our dancers, bands, and callers well by helping us update our sound system! No more screeching and static.
