Susan Chapman Gentry ... A Miracle

A good friend of mine and many others, survived being hit and pinned under an F150 on edgewater and Smith street. She is a teacher at The First Academy and is married and has two young children. The community of college park came together and saved her by lifting the truck off of her. A good portion of the guys are members of the Bishop Moore football team and other local bystanders who jumped into action immediately. Susan's entire family was in the crosswalk when this happened. Her husband, Mark, was carrying their son and ,Ansley, her daughter was holding her hand. Susan selflessly pushed her daughter out of the way to protect her and was then hit and pinned under the truck. Once Susan was pulled from underneath the truck people jumped into action to protect her children from further trama and get her emergency help immediately. A group of women took her children to the back of Tijuana Flats where the employees of Tijuana Flats fed the children and they were evaluated by our awesome team of firefighters and the paramedics were able to tend to Susan. Somehow Susan survived this horrific trama but will need significant help with medical expenses and other support, along with her family. This will be a very long recovery. She is nonweightbearing and cannot walk at all for 6 weeeks and will need 24 hour care until she can start relearning to walk again, etc. She has such a positive spirit. Susan and her family are so used to helping others out they don't know how to ask for help and are still in a tremendous amount of shock so I am asking all that know them or witnessed this event to keep them in their prayers. She is truly a miracle!!!
