Hello Friends ,
My name is Mahadevan Iyer and I am from India, Like every other person from India I moved to the USA to pursue better professional prospects for myself and my family. I worked very hard for the last 8 years to build a life here. However, I lost my job in June due to COVID-19 situation. Being on a H1-B visa I get ONLY 60 DAYS to find a new job. The overall employment freeze across the industry and the uncertainty over the immigration rules has made my job search very difficult. Currently, me and my family are on visitor's visa(tourist visa) which gives us some more time here. My wife is a Mental Health Therapist and she too had to stop her practice as her immigration status is tied to mine . We have survived, for the last 5 months, using most of our savings, selling off things and doing pet sitting . But as you can imagine it is not enough.
It is imperative for us to stay here because of the following reasons
1. My health issues - I am a kidney cancer survivor, living on a single kidney, hence come under the immunocompromised category. I need to get surveillance CT scans done every 6 months and the treatment I need is only possible in USA.
2. My daughter's academic challenges - Our daughter has learning difficulties and needs extra help and therapy which is only possible here.
So, I am raising this fundraiser to keep my family going and continue my efforts in searching for a job. Please help me and my family in whatever way you can. Thanks a lot . God bless you and hope that things become better for each one of us.
