QRC - Survival Kit Drive for Haiti

Tax deductible
Quiescere Resource Center (QRC) has been serving immigrant familes residing on Long Island since 2003.  Quiescere (key-s-air), meaning to be at ease, is committed to enriching the community through education and service.  Programs range from personal and professional development, to adult ESL.  QRC launched The Survival Kit Drive for Haiti, shortly after the January 2010 earthquake, to promote resiliency and empower the women of Haiti.  In conjunction with 1199SEIU We Care for Haiti Campaign, The Links, Inc International Trends and a score of schools, organizations, businesses and community residents, The Survival Kit Drive for Haiti project has grown immensely to becoming a national initiative.  To date, over 20,000 survival kits have been distributed in Haiti, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Philippines, and NY Tri-State area.

The survival kit for women includes the following items:  sanitary napkins, liners, underwear, soap, washcloth, disposable wipes, hand sanitizer, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, and a comb.  We have recently launched the Kit for Kids project.  Each kit contains the same items listed above (less sanitary napkins and liners) but adding a coloring book, crayons, books, and a small toy.

Your tax deductible contributions will help cover storage and shipping costs, plan the 2014 delegation trip to Haiti, and further QRC's global initiatives.  QRC has broadened its scope to  conduct needs assessments for orphanages, community programs, and schools in Haiti.

Sincere gratitude for your continued support.  From hosting drives to collect supplies to making monetary contributions.....we are thankful.  Over 1,000 of you have volunteered your time towards this initiative.  The development of Youth Day of Service through the 1199SEIU We Care for Haiti Campaign has given hundreds of youth the opportunity to earn community service hours on their day off from school.
