Help Aeliana Survive Lawsuits

Donation protected
**Please note that the money in the account does not reflect the amount of money currently in my bank account. Money has been donated for a year and a half & I receive the donations as they come in which are primarily used for rent, electric bill, food, subway fair & my phone. I'm probably going to turn my phone off this month because I can no longer afford rent & I feel like I have to turn off everything. Every donation helps. I need to be pulling in about $1600 per month to cover my basic cost of living & my goal of 50k would hopefully enable me to survive 2 more years of this court process. They continuously stall & do not adhere to the process which only hurts me. I have been told my SSI appeal could wait as long as a year to give me the date for the court appearance. A lot more information below or in my updates. Basically I really need money right now. I cannot survive without your help. I'm hoping a lot of people are able to donate $5-20 and share with their network or hit up my patreon.com/aeliananicole for ongoing thing or have some artwork for sell or let your wealthy friends know who want to support a disabled trans fem person fighting against ongoing State violence.**

Thank you so much for checking out my campaign. On May 16th, 2016 I was ran over by an ambulance running a red light as I biked home from work the day before graduating from Grad School from Pratt Institute. I was a part of the Creative Writings & Activism inaugural class. I haven't been able to work since the accident which injured my head, neck, back, right shoulder, both knees & right ankle. I was wearing a helmet or else I very well could have died. I've since had 2 surgeries and have been in physical therapy a year & a half. My second lawsuit is because I was attacked on Aug. 4th, 2017 in the women's restroom at the disability offices in downtown Brooklyn. A man had harassed me twice that day & the second time was aided by the janitor in coming into the women's restroom and assaulting me. The staff at the disability office did nothing to protect me or intervene in the situation. The security guard on duty laughed. I can never go back there. Since this happened its created more problems for me accessing disability benefits. I'm basically relying on GoFundMe to raise enough money to sustain myself through these long & difficult legal processes. Thank you so much. Any help helps! Please like, share & let your networks know as I need to prepare for at least another year of court. While in these processes I'm also undergoing gender affirming surgeries & this money will help me cover the cost of that as well. Lots more information on my channel. Again, thank you so much.

Since the accident I’ve been diagnosed disabled. I’ve undergone 2 surgeries, multiple procedures, physical therapy, acupuncture and chiropractic care. Unfortunately, I won't ever fully recover.

I was determined disabled by 3 doctors; but because the ambulance that hit me fled the scene the lawsuit has been slow to force the insurance company to pay the disability severance pay I am owed. Most likely, I won’t get the money owed to me until legal proceedings are recognized by the courts and the agency that hit me can no longer deny the fact. But that will take time—most likely many more months.

Until then, I am on my own… now humbly asking for help to get through this very difficult time. My goal is to raise $50,000 to cover estimated 2 more years of legal proceedings and help me recover from Gender Affirming Surgeries. I have the first of 3 this coming January. Any money not used for rent and bills will be used to pursue gender affirming procedures & ensure I make a smooth transition back to as functional a life as I can rebuild.

My bills breakdown per month:

Rent: $850 per month
Food: $250
Transportation: $150
Phone: $100
Electric/Gas?Utilities: $75
Mental Health/Gender Affirming Procedures: $400+
Misc: $400+

If I raise enough money it will enable me to leave NYC for periods of time between legal proceedings & enable me to seek more healing treatments.

Additional funding would first go to resecuring a passport $180 which feels dire in this political climate. And $400 would be used to get laser hair removal on my face and chest which is the most immediate gender reaffirming procedure that I need for my mental sanity.

If you can’t help monetarily but want to help: PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YR NETWORKS. Also would be into a loan predicated on my lawsuit if that is feasible by anyone. If you want to help but don't have money please call Brooklyn Council Member Brad Lander 718-499-1090 and demand an investigation into the hit and run that has made me permanently disabled. Unfortunately cannot change my name until the lawsuit is over so need to use my dead name.

While on this platform I’d also like to point out the endemic nature of this problem. I’m not alone and I’ve discovered this experience is far too common.

In December 2015 the NYPD reported at a City Council transportation committee meeting that there were 38,000 hit-and-run crashes in NYC—4,000 of which injured people. Of 48 recorded “catastrophic” hit-and-run incidents, resulting death or serious injury, only 28 have led to prosecutions of any sort. Of the 38,000 total cases, only 480 drivers were arrested and another 475 received moving violations. The hearing confirmed what advocates have been saying about hit-and-run crashes for years: They are an epidemic (http://www.streetsblog.org/2015/09/10/nypd-and-electeds-idle-as-nycs-hit-and-run-epidemic-claims-another-life/). Currently, drivers who are involved in and flee the scene of an accident are subject to a $500 fine. In cases where a hit-and-run accident involves a fatality, the driver will be charged with a felony and can face fines of up to $10,000. Given the stiff penalties associated with hit-and-run accidents, some may question why so many drivers in New York City continue to flee the scenes of traffic accidents. 2015 statistics on hit-and-run accidents provide some insight. For example, //as of early December 2015, the New York City Police Department reported a total of the 38,000 hit-and-run accidents for the year, 4,000 of which resulted in victims suffering injuries including 31 fatalities,  However, of the 4,000 hit-and-runs that involved injuries and deaths only 48, or less than one percent, were actually investigated by the NYPD and just 28 arrests were made. These abysmal statistics are believed to factor heavily into why the city continues to be plagued by high numbers of hit-and-run accidents as many drivers likely don’t believe they’ll ever be caught. And given the driver that hit me works for the city which has so far only protected them—it seems like my justice will be hard fought & I need help to get it.
