Surgery for Stitch

When Stitch was surrendered to the shelter, he was in so much pain. Unable to walk, he had two broken back legs, at least 6 fractured ribs, a fractured jaw and a torn ligament in his knee. Tragically, an orthopedic exam showed that his injuries had happened at different times – meaning Stitch had been hurt more than once. It broke our hearts to know that, in his 8 short months of life, all this sweet puppy had known was pain.

Stitch’s story and sweet face stole my heart. Despite the suffering he had endured, he was such an affectionate and trusting puppy. After spending a few days with him, I knew that he would be our dog. We wanted to give him the life he deserved – one without pain and filled with unconditional love.

It took a month and a half before Stitch was ready to come home with us. One of his legs had to be healed with surgery, and the other was treated with a splint and cage rest. At 9 months old, he finally had a real home – and has brought so much love and joy to our lives.

But it turns out that Stitch’s journey to recovery isn’t quite finished. The injury to his left back leg – a cranial cruciate ligament tear – needs a surgical procedure called a lateral suture. This surgery will stabilize the torn ligament in his knee and give him the best chance at the normal, pain-free life we so badly want for him.

This intricate procedure comes with a very expensive price-tag: $4,400. But we know that Stitch’s wellbeing is priceless. Every day we are inspired by the bravery, resilience and love that he shows. Please help us give Stitch the life he deserves! Anything you can spare will help change his life.
