SURGERY FOR ECHO the dog

Donation protected
SURGERY FOR ECHO THE DOG: On Friday Echo, a dog we had previously sought to find shelter for and who was recently beaten on the head with a hammer, was hit by a speeding car on 22nd St outside of GRIP, the homeless shelter in central Richmond, and sustained serious injuries. We took him to the Pet Emergency Hospital in Berkeley, and they planned for a surgery costing $1,800.

Rocky, Echo’s owner who is unsheltered and has been living in a tent for 9 months, has no money for the surgery. Echo is being referred to FIX OUR FERALS, which can provide for the surgery at an “affordable” rate. We hope to bring Echo to this nonprofit for the procedure (amputation of his tail) on Monday at 7:30am. WE NEED $600 for the procedure.

Please consider how you can help Echo. Rocky, a leader for our local campers, is trying to get a job with the City as a Maintenance Aide at Code Enforcement. His father is currently at VA Martinez with lung and prostate cancer. He hopes to overcome his current circumstances so that he can sincerely help our movement to make safer encampments, and he plans to help lead the Parkview Neighborhood Group to address the folks who were evicted on Wednesday from an unsafe camp location at the Carlson railroad right-of-way after the train injury involving one of the campers.

I ask our community to raise $600 by Monday morning. Your contribution will help us.

And, you better believe, we will create safer conditions at this traffic location outside of GRIP, where children live at this homeless shelter, and so that neighbors can more safely cross over to the pedestrian underpass path.
