Surgery for Binx

Donation protected

Last year I adopted Binx(black ferret in picture)
, a juvenile ferret who was mistreated by his previous family. Binx was bought from the Petco I work at and was returned dehydrated and malnourished. He has 0 muscle and experienced constant seizures. My coworkers rushed him to the vet and he was treated and brought back into good health before I adopted him and brought him home. He quickly made a full recovery and got along great with my other ferret, Loki.
Last week, after having to leave him in the care of someone else, he was able to escape the house with Loki. They were both found within a couple days of escape, but Binx suffered a severe fracture to one of his legs. The vet gave us three options. Allow the leg to heal on its own; his leg would be shorter than the rest and he'd be in constant pain the rest of his life. Amputate the leg. Or surgery.
I'd like to opt for the surgery, however we were referred to a specialist who quoted us $2500-$3000, if their surgical team performed the surgery. The vet who originally saw him said she could do the procedure for around $800-$1200. And the specialist herself quoted us around $1800 if she did it herself.
I have set the goal at $3500 in hopes of getting him the best treatment possible, with extra in case of complications. However, my primary goal is to just avoid having to amputate the leg. Binx has suffered enough in his lifetime, and being just over 1 year old he has a lot of his life left to live. I'd love to see him live it to his fullest with all four legs.

We currently have  $800 towards the surgery. Any amount helps towards our goal and we are overly grateful to all who share and/or donate to help reach our goal.
