Surgery: Dog Caught in Snare Trap

Earlier this week in Fish Creek Park Calgary our Aussiedoodle Geo was caught by a snare trap around 10 feet from the main trail.  His back leg was severely cut.  The trap pulled down all of the skin from his inner thigh, down to his knee.  The cut scraped down to the muscle and bone.  The doctors weren't sure if they could keep the skin, or have to graft it.  Thankfully after hours of surgery, they were able to pull up his skin and stitch the wound closed.  His muscles have been fixed and we were told how lucky our little pup is to have survived one of these traps.  It has been truly heartbreaking to see this happen to our puppy.  These devices are illegal in the Alberta Parks; commonly, they end up injuring our beloved pets.  The total cost we have listed above is the full cost of surgery, intensive care and pain medication.  Any donation helps and we are so grateful for everyone sending their love, prayers and support.

We are very thankful to the Fish Creek Pet Hospital for the team working day & night to save Geo’s leg. 

We can't wait to have our puppy back; climbing mountains, backcountry skiing and living a life of adventure.
