Surgeries for Bertie

Donation protected
Bertie is our fun-loving ginger girl. She is 7 months old and has become the light of our lives.

Kune Kune pigs are extremely intelligent, inquisitive, mischievous, sweet-tempered, and playful. She never wants to be alone and is somewhat stubborn if she doesn't get her way.

On June 30th Bertie was tragically run over by a car and suffered a complete fracture to the right side of her jaw.

We travelled 3 hours to the University of Saskatchewan where she underwent surgery to repair the jaw using small wires. As a result, Bertie ended up with a severe ulcer in her right eye. She was in need of constant monitoring, and medical care.

After a few days of recovery her incision was partially opened and potentially infected. It was at this point we rushed her back to Saskatoon where she underwent further tests revealing 2 more unknown fractures to her jaw and a worsening ulcer requiring more surgeries. Her care until then has been very expensive and will continue to be. We are incredibly hopeful for Bertie's full recovery after these further surgeries.

It breaks our hearts to see our baby like this and would be devastated if we lost her. Before the accident she was a care-free, grass grazing, dandelion loving babe. Now she is under constant supervision indoors, and missing out on the joys of summer.

This is why we are asking for YOUR help to save our ginger girl. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
