Hayden’s surgeries

$10,646 of $60,000 goal

Raised by 120 people in 63 months
My daughter Hayden was born with a condition known as PFFD. Her right leg did not form correctly in utero and she will need a series of surgeries to correct the problems. She is currently at a 10cm discrepancy and will need limb lengthening as well as a new knee built for her. She is a beautiful and active child but lives daily in pain. In May of 2013 we raised enough funds to see Dr. Paley in Florida! It is our wish to raise enough money to continue her care with the Paley institute....So that one day both feet will touch the ground!

Hello!!! I am so sorry for the lack of updates!! Hayden has a Facebook page and I keep that updated but never thought to update this!! I apologize!! Hayden has undergone two major surgeries so far. In February 2017 she underwent a pelvic and femoral osteotomy with femur rotation, 8 plate to the knee and anchor screw to the ankle. She did amazing and was back up on her feet in no time! Than this past January she had an ACL reconstruction, since Hayden was born without one. With her leg being so small they were unable to harvest her own tissue and so we had to go with a cadaver which is healing nicely!! 6 weeks post op and Hayden is at 100 degrees of flex! She is doing amazing!! We are now looking at a third surgery in about 2-4 months, as soon as that ACL is ready to be stretched!! If anyone is on Facebook and wishes to follow her journey it’s called Hayden’s life with PFFD/CFS. Thank you to everyone again who has helped her get to the goal of two feet on the ground!! WE ARE SO CLOSE NOW!!!

Well as most know this has been an almost 11 year struggle that has taken us through 3 states and 6 surgeons!!! The struggle to find the answers and the plan we felt most confident in has been exhausting! So here is an update::

About 9 months ago Hayden started complaining more and more of pain in her right hip! She was tiring easier and her stamina was disappearing!! Exams were done and X-rays were gotten and the results were a sublexed hip. It wasn't good news for Hayden! We had always hoped that the hip would remain stable! But a miracle was headed our way! Haydens records were forwarded to a brand new surgeon at Children's Hospital in Seattle!!! She has spent her life doing but correcting limb deformities and was very familiar with Haydens condition! This was something I had prayed for!! We were sent over for a consult and she concurred Hayden would need a femoral osteotomy and perhaps a pelvic osteotomy as well! At that time they would insert an eight plate in her knee to help correct the curvature of the limb as well! It will take Hayden about a year total to heal, recover and complete physical therapy! After that we will go on to stabilize the knee by giving her an ACL and a PCL! Again that should take a year so the same recovery, healing and PT! When that is all complete we can move onto limb lengthening! We have many many years of traveling to Seattle and long surgical stays! Any donations made will continue to be used in traveling back and forth and all costs associated with the surgeries!!

Thank you for all the help, shares and encouragements we have received so far!!!

UPDATE::: SURGERY IS HAPPENING THIS FRIDAY!!! We of course are super excited and extremely Nervous!! This is the biggest surgery she will undergo.....

A huge thank you to everyone that has helped support Hayden thru this journey! What a blessing you have all been!!

I don't know if you get my eMail replies, so I thought I would leave a message here as well. I just want to reiterate that I am always super glad to help when I can. ♥ I've set it to auto-donate while I have a little extra to spare. It's not much, but it's yours each month while I can afford it. I'm so happy it goes to such a wonderful cause. ♥

So if you have ever donated to an organization like World Vision or the Salvation Army or even if you haven't, consider this--- helping someone in our own country. This little girls daddy works with me and he can't afford to have these surgeries without help. I am willing to help. Will you be?
