Ort is in the ACC jail.

In October of 2014 Ort received several citations for violating Athens-Clarke County "Quality of Life" violations.  These citations appear to be the result of complaints from one of his neighbors in Homewood HIlls.  After several court appearances and attempts to resolve the issues and get "in compliance" with County regulations, Ort was officially found in violation in May of 2015 after a bench trial in Municipal Court. He was unrepresented by counsel throughout that process.

Ort was senteced to 6 months probation and 30 days in confinement. The confinement portion was suspeded, conditioned on him getting his property in compliance by August.  Ort, with help of friends and volunteers, make great progress on addressing the issues the county had raised.  In August, now represented by counsel, the municipal court judge ultimately found (over the onjection of the county attorney) that he had come into compliance and therefore Ort was not sent to jail.

The county attorneys office kept sending officers by to inspect his property and he was recited for additonal violations in September 2015.  Since he was on probation, these new citations counted as "new criminal offenses" and therefore potential vioations of his probation.

There is no legal requirement to issue an arrest warrant for allegedly violating probation and it is very rare for it to happen in a situation like this, where all of the offenses are merely "quality of life" local ordinance violations.

Throughout this process, Ort has managed to raise the ire of the county attorneys office and one particular assistant attorney in general. It
Is fairly obvious that she pushed for a warrant to be issued because of her expressed distaste for Ort.

We will be attempting to get a bond set for Ort in the morning, hopefully one requiring no actual money.

While his attorneys are working pro bono on his case, and he has multiple friedns and supports willing to help address the compliance issues, there is still some cleanup issues that will require hiring equipment and professionals.
