Supporting Our Liz

Hey Everyone,

For those of you who do not know the situation entirely here is a small synopsis to explain what an amazing person Liz is and the unfortunate circumstances she's come to endure in her young 23 year old life.

Liz is the daughter of the late Connie and Tom Falcigno. In October 2014, Connie was diagnosed with stage 4 lobular Breast cancer. Connie fought her heart out for 18 months in attempts to beat this horrific disease. However, on January 26, 2016, Connie was called Home by our Lord. A woman loved by so many, leaving an irreplaceable hole in both Tom and Liz's lives and hearts.

Three years later, in mid March 2019, Tom began to experience some severe stomach issues, resulting in a trip to the ER. After multiple days there and many tests later, the doctors discovered that there was a blockage somewhere in his digestive system. After undergoing surgery and applying a stent--to hopefully alleviate the digestive problems--the doctors discovered a large mass and many other small masses in his colon. Following pathology reports, Tom was unfortunately diagnosed with stage 4 metastasized Colon cancer on March 19. Due to the digestive complications, Tom was placed on a TPN bag in hopes that after some recovery from this he could start chemo to attack the cancer. However, because this cancer was very aggressive and spread very suddenly and rapidly, Tom was also called Home by our Lord on April 12, not even a month later.

Liz is the only child of Connie and Tom. Unfortunately there may be some of us who already know what it is like to lose one parent, let alone two before age 25. The amount of pain is unfathomable.

Fortunately, Liz is surrounded by so many beautiful distant family members and friends to support her during this time and throughout her entire life going forward. She is very thankful for each and every one of you. However, no one can take away or replace the holes in her heart that only her parents can fill.

None of us know or really can explain why bad things happen to good people. Liz is truly one of the most genuine, kind-hearted, and loving persons in this life. She is the embodiment of strength. With these circumstances, many responsibilities, especially financial ones, have suddenly fallen all on Liz's shoulders that a "normal" 23 year old girl shouldn't have to worry about just yet (I.e. rent, insurances, excess funeral/burial costs, etc.) Many people have reached out asking if there is someway they could help in other ways than just by sympathies and prayers. If you are able to help in anyway, thank you so much. Please keep Liz and her healing in your thoughts and prayers.
