The Helping Hands Project

Donation protected
The Helping Hands Project at North Carolina State University is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are learning to adapt to life with missing limbs or digits. The project is led by students and faculty who are passionate about helping children to cope with loss of limb or congenitally missing limbs. It is hard for children to adjust to this lifestyle without feeling excluded and unhappy.

The Helping Hands Project helps by designing and building recreational prosthetics pro bono for children with missing limbs or digits. The impact that this makes in childrens' lives is profound as it allows them to feel more comfortable socially as well as improving their efficiency in performing tasks and their own self-confidence. For more information about the club or to contact us concerning your child's needs for a recreational (non-load-bearing) prosthetic, go to https://www.facebook.com/helpinghandncsu/

Donating to our cause will allow us to help even more children and further the possibilities of what we can create for them. Our recreational prosthetics are additive manufactured (3D printed) and your donations will help us to buy materials and afford us a greater range of materials. The more you donate, the more we will be able to do to help. Because we have no overhead, donations go directly to the custom design and creation of the recreational prosthetics which occurs in the NCSU Biomedical Engineering Senior Design Lab. Recipients of these devices are chosen based on need.
