#BloomsUnited - Support children affected by Idai

Tax deductible
On March 14th, Cyclone Idai caused catastrophic devastation across Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. During the chaos of flooding and mudslides, as many as 4,900 children have been separated from their families. Entire villages have been submerged, roads cut off and communications knocked out, complicating the search for missing loved ones.

An estimated ONE MILLION children have been orphaned, separated from their families, made homeless or otherwise affected by Cyclone Idai. The official death toll has risen above 730, at least 220,000 displaced people are living in makeshift camps, and now more than 1,000 cases of cholera have been reported. Children and families have lost everything. They are struggling to find clean water to drink, and desperately need shelter, food and essentials.

Hundreds of thousands of girls and boys in all three countries are extremely vulnerable to diseases and malnutrition. “Children are out there on their own - without the supervision or care of a trustworthy adult, they can easily fall victim to sexual violence or human trafficking. We are aware and very concerned about it.” Rik Goverde from Save the Children

Please donate what you can today as The Canadian government is matching donations up to $2 million made by individual Canadians to the Humanitarian Coalition between March 15 and April 14 for emergency relief for survivors of Cyclone Idai. Donations are being made to Save the Children.
