Support the Buckleys & Hutchinsons

On November 9th, the Woolsey Fire destroyed the Hutchinson and Buckley homes, along with thousands of other homes in Malibu. The Hutchinsons, my grandparents, lost their home of 50 years and all of their possessions that day. They raised all of their children in this beautiful, beloved house and it was a place of many memories for my family for 4 generations. Later that day,  my uncle Willy Buckley stayed behind to protect their home while the rest of the Buckleys evacuated, which is the image shown above. Willy, a retired wildland firefighter, risked his life and fought the fire as long as he could in an attempt to save his neighbor and family’s home and possessions. Unfortunately, the fire was too strong and the Buckleys, my aunt and uncle, lost their home of 22 years that they built themselves before their first child was born. Their beautiful home was a place of holiday gatherings for my family and friends and a welcoming place to stay for many people for the past 22 years.
