ACHIEVEMENT
Dacorum hurdler Ralph Williams has received confirmation of selection to the CSSF (Catholic Schools Sports Federation) Great Britain Athletics Team. This is a massive achievement for the young athlete who now has now earned his International vest at the age of 16 with the opportunity to compete in the 110m Hurdles as an Under 18 at the Stadium Iolanda Balasz Soter in Bucharest, Romania this July. This fantastic news comes hot on the heels of Ralph's selection to the Athletic Academy of Sporting Excellence (AASE) where the top UK athletes (aged between 16 and 18) are part of British Athletic Performance Pathway.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ralph now has three years of competition ahead of him as an Under 20 after finishing his Under 17 season as one of UK's top hurdlers where he has been Number one in Hertfordshire (in indoor and outdoor disciplines) for the third year running. That ensured he was selected to represent Hertfordshire at the Inter Counties matches as well as the English Schools Championship. For the last two years he has been part of the Under 17 County squad winning the Peterhouse trophy amid tough competition. He finished last season winning the silver medal at the YDL final.
THE LAST 12 MONTHS
Over the last year Ralph has broken the Dacorum and Tring indoor hurdles record eight times as well as taking the 15 year old outdoor hurdles record. He also has the County schools indoor hurdles record to add to the District schools outdoor record which he smashed with a blistering run of 13.3.
ABOUT RALPH
Ralph has lived in Hemel Hempstead for all of his life and is currently studying for four A levels (Biology, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and PE). He has recently qualified as a UK Athletics assistant coach and UK Athletics official and often volunteers.
WHY WE NEED SUPPORT
Ralph is seeking help with the £890 cost of the trip to the competition in Romania this summer.
