We are organizing cleaning of the fields and planting of the fields at the farms he collaborates with.
Please continue to support him in this time!

The first plant date will be March 30.  This farm is located in Albuquerque’s beautiful South Valley.

The second plant date will be April 6 and Acoma Pueblo to prepare the fields, and corn planting on May 11 in Acoma Pueblo.  We are working on organizing transportation.

We are also coordinating gardening dates with local middle schools, and we are trying to organize a planting session in Jemez Pueblo.

Our beloved farmer, father, brother, and son Joseluis Ortiz was critically injured in an accident on I-25 this week. He was rear ended on his way home by a wreck less driver and thrown over the Rio grande bridge and into the bosque. His injuries will require many months of rehabilitation and healing as he mends his 3 broken vertebrate, a broken hip, a broken tail bone. A severely strained right arm and a broken pelvis. Joseluis will not be back on his feet for a few months.

There are great plans for Joseluis's road to healing and his full recovery will take time. It is still too early to say when that will be. We will update his condition with respect to his privacy.

The trauma of the accident is immense and will be felt within his young family for a long time.

Joseluis is passionately involved in advocating for health and resiliency within our community. He has served many organizations in his young life. UNM, the Biodynamic Association, La Plazita Institute, Los Jardines Institute, the Agricultura Network, and the American Friends & Service Committee amongst others.

He is an advocate for social justice, equity and inclusion, a compassionate communicater and community organizer. He is loved & his impact is felt by many people in New Mexico and throughout the Americas!

Immediate needs for the family are grocery cards, money for gas for hospital trips, medical expenses not covered by insurance, help planting fields, and any thing your heart feels called to give!

A GoFundMe and Venmo account have been created with the intention of alleviating financial burdens that are being incurred.

Our community needs Joseluis healthy and healed.

We will be organizing seed planting events for the fields in the next few weeks. Please join us in planting fields, cultivating community and learning!
