On Monday, January 13, 2020, the unthinkable happened. Kristen (Breen) Pedersen was in a horrific car accident. Kristen was on her way home from teaching 1st grade at South Lawrence East Elementary, located in Lawrence, MA. While traveling home on 495 North, a southbound car crossed the center median and smashed into Kristen head on. This extremely serious accident was life-threatening, resulted in multiple surgeries and ICU care, and has left her with extensive injuries.
We predict there will be many challenges in the future, both mentally and physically, while Kristen and her family work to fully recover. This page is being set up with the hope that, as her community, we can help alleviate some of the financial burden of mounting medical bills, home renovation expenses, groceries, childcare and household needs. There are many challenges ahead that Kristen will face with healing, extensive physical therapy, and coming to terms with her new normal. Kristen is an extremely strong person who fought to survive this catastrophic accident and will fight harder to get her life back. The journey will be long, but we know she will get there. Together, we can try to take some of the pressure off of her and the family during this time.
Kristen is a wonderful mother to two beautiful children, Amelia (2) and Travis (1), a loving wife to Matt, an amazing daughter and sister, a spectacular auntie to her four nieces, and a best friend. No one deserves to go through what she's going through. As we all know, Kristen’s selfless character and insane loyalty to family and friends is proven to us all daily. We are so grateful for all of you. The support has been so incredibly overwhelming for our entire family to feel and experience. Your prayers, messages, and offerings have not gone unnoticed.
Our family could not be more in awe of Dr. Lewis and his trauma team at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The care that Kris has received over the last 2 weeks could never be surpassed, the doctors and nurses are truly unbelievable.
