ቀለብ ስዩም/Keleb Aster Siyoum

My name is Truneh Yirga,
I live in Toronto Canada, and
I am the representative of Keleb Siyoum and this group, I and few friends formed to collect fund on behalf of Keleb (Aster) Siyoum.
The entire fund collected here will be withdrawn by myself and sent to Keleb (Aster) Siyoum using the Western Union or other means to pay her Medical bills in appreciation of her efforts to bring justice and freedom and ordeals she went through.
You are all welcome to contact me if you have any concern.

Aster Siyoum Abera, also known Keleb Siyoum has been imprisoned in Ethiopia for the past 3 years and released just before Christmas 2017.
Aster was arbitrarily arrested, unjustifiably tortured and thrown in jail in notorious prison known as KALITY enduring all kinds of ill-treatment due to her political views and opposition voices to the oppressive government in Ethiopia.

Aster Siyoum was an executive member of legally registered opposition party known as UDJ in North Gondar region Ethiopia, but hardly functioning because of the government crackdown and scrutinizing of the party member’s making it impossible to do any political activities.

Eventually the Ethiopian government arrested most of the UDJ party leadership including Aster and, systematically dismantled the whole opposition parties in the country.

Yes, Keleb (Aster) Siyoum was undeniably a great advocate of democracy, peace, and justice and voice for the voiceless. She spoke against every injustice and unfair treatment of citizens in the country in all platforms available including at her workplace, University campus and in public meetings starting in her high school days.

This young lady inspired and motivated so many young people to join the united democratic movement for justice and became influential political figure in Ethiopia and earned respect within Ethiopian community abroad.

Aster was great example for many young girls, a great science student, politically active and a strong mother. Despite all odds, she earned her Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Gondar University, just before her imprisonment. She never committed any crime except being a member of peaceful political party and a voice for voiceless men and women and an advocate for justice; she should never be in this situation.

Now she is released after 3 years in prison with a worrisome Health condition, her life is broken in all sides; financially and emotionally destroyed. She lost her mother while she was in prison, the only parent she had; no home to go back and no income to pay her medical bills, and no job opportunity to raise her child; she needs support in all angles.

As you may all know my name is Truneh Yirga, living in Toronto Canada, I was born and grow up in the same village where Keleb (Aster) Siyoum was born in Ethiopia a countryside where everybody would know each other by their first names if not related by blood.

I came to know Aster when she became a passionate
voice for voiceless farmers in a village where I was born, with her advocacy, works for equality, justice, freedom, and democracy. She was a University student and the cause is very close to my heart, from those days forward I decided to help her and her child with anything I can

With her captivating speech, particularly for local farmers, women, children and her political activities as UDJ Party leadership; she became a treat for the oppressive regime of Ethiopia, and they decided to lock her up in prison, leaving a little child alone.
A few days ago she came out from prison after 3 years
very ill, with an immediate need for medical attention in Heart condition.
After her release, I with a few other friends,
decided to form a supporting group, and I am the representative for Keleb (Aster) Siyoum and she is pleased with that and very appreciative.

The entire funds collected will be sent directly to her, using the Western Union or other means to Keleb (Aster) Siyoum to pay her Medical bills and to give her little financial support in this difficult time if possible.

This young lady suffered in the hands of the oppressive regime fighting for democracy, justice, and freedom; it is a just cause, she deserves to be helped out in her difficult times.

Let us Stretch Our Helping Hands to Aster Siyoum and Her Baby Boy!

Thank you.
