Joshua is a loving, energetic, community-driven, 11-year-old in a single parent home in the Jane and Finch area. After raising awareness on healthy safe places to play together with his sister in a program called future possibilities for kids, raised over a thousand signatures on a petition and as a result, the city rebuilt a new playground in 2017
Joshua and his sister have been attending Definitely Dance Studio since they were 4 and 5 years old and was chosen to be a part of the competitive team for the last 4 years now. They've been to many competitions where they've received many groups and Individual Awards. Joshua's love for dancing and the passion he shows on stage has caught the attention of many judges over the years. “Joshua brings a special light to the stage” “ I not only see your love for dance I can feel it”
“ You remind me of why I began dancing in the first place” are only some of the comments judges personally made to him.
By his 2nd competition at age 8 he was awarded is a scholarship for a weekend Workshop to the Canadian Contemporary Dance Studio downtown Toronto. At age 9 he was a semi-finalist on the So You Think You Can Dance North York in Toronto. In 2017 he was named Mr Shine Of the year for winning first place in his category in a solo dance and was invited to Nationals which he couldn't attend because of the financial strain it will have on his family. After watching his sister win a Middle School talent competition he vowed that he was going to enter and win also and for sure that's what he did. He won Jaamm Star Idol 2018, a talent competition which Awards scholarship to take the strain and burden off Middle School kids in challenging neighbourhood like Jane and Finch by helping them with some materials towards high school. At his competitions this year he did such a phenomenal job so much that at one competition he was awarded an invitation placement to join Team Canada, where he will represent Canada on a world stage in Europe in 2019. Having already missed many scholarships, invitations and opportunities because of financial burden Joshua is wishing for this one chance that we are afraid he may never have again. That is to proudly represent his country.
