Support Jay Rodrigue

Jay Rodrigue is a great guy.  He is a bit shy, but is funny, has a huge heart and is always willing to lend a helping hand.  He is an avid lover of animals and the outdoors - especially fishing, ice fishing and hiking in his home town of Lake Luzerne, NY and the surrounding Adirondack Park.   He has been in dedicated service to Lake Luzerne-Hadley Schools for nearly 30 years!

Unfortunately, the last 18 months have been very tough for him.  After sustaining burns to the bottom of his feet while on one of the sandbars of the local Hudson River, Jay contracted a serious infection in both feet. 

After fighting with hospitalizations, surgeries and strong antibiotics, Jay ultimately lost his left leg above the ankle.  Being a trooper, Jay has adapted to a prosthetic and had returned to driving, work and even some hiking and fishing.  Tragically, Jay has recently had a recurrence of infection in his right foot and recently lost his right 3rd toe. 

Jay needs to cut his activity to ensure good healing and prevent the loss of a second leg, but money is tight as all of his sick time has been exhausted.  He is no longer being paid for being out of work.  He lives alone in the modest home left by his parents, but Jay must sustain upkeep, taxes, fuel (gas and wood for the stove), food and uncovered medical costs.  The winters are very rough in the rural north country of NY state, so worrying about getting by is all consuming!

His family is helping, but any donations to lessen the burdens on Jay will help tremendously and will allow him to rest, heal properly and keep himself afloat until he is able to secure retirement and/or disability benefits.  The ultimate goal is to prevent him from becoming a double amputee!!

At just 50 years old, this is a terrible strain and a difficult situation for a proud man to be in.  Please consider helping and sharing his story!
