Support fund for Military Family, Briana Callahan

As many of you know, Briana Callahan (AKA Briana Pentecost-Moore) has suffered from TCS (Tethered Cord Syndrome) since she was 17, resulting in 4 extensive back surgeries.  Since May 2019, Briana has been battling with Dr.'s in California trying to determine why she's losing function in her legs resulting in the ability to walk and to feel her legs. The pain has been excruciating.  She is confined to a wheelchair and can take small steps with a cane.  She currently has a tethered spinal cord; however, performing another release procedure will not be successful.  She requires a very special, intricate procedure called a spinal shortening osteotomy surgery.  In simple terms, they will remove part of her vertebrae, making her shorter in order to provide her spinal cord some "slack".  This will hopefully release the pressure on the spinal cord and nerves and hopefully give her the feeling back to her legs and allow them to function.  She will have rods, screws and plates placed in her back, limiting the ability of her movement and ability to twist.  There are only 4 Neurosurgeons in the US that perform this procedure in the United States.  Dr. Deb Bhowmick in North Carolina Chapel Hill thinks he can help her walk again and regain her life.

Briana will be in the hospital for 10 - 14 days, then to rehabilitation center for 10-14 days, then she has to stay in the vicinity until she reaches her 6 week apt before she can be released to go home.  That is as long as there is no complications.  Any funds raised on this GO FUND account will be used to use to support the family so Briana has all the support she needs on site during her surgery and recovery.  Funds will be used to pay for any medical bills and / or bills that need to be paid since Briana has not been working since May and will be off work for some time while she recovers.  Expenses include flight for Briana & Jacob, lodging for 6-8 weeks, groceries, rental car, gas, medical bills (accumulated from California and upcoming in NC)  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Briana graduated with her BS in Agriculture/ Crop Science from Chico State in 2018.  She married her college sweetheart and moved to San Diego with her husband, Jacob Callahan, who currently serves as active duty in the US Navy.  She has a passion for life, she wants to contribute to society and enjoy her life in San Diego with her husband.  She loves animals of all kind, loves her family and loves living in California.  She's ready to enjoy living by the ocean and all the outdoor adventures San Diego has to offer.  Thank you for supporting her and her family during this really difficult time.  She has been suffering for months and we all hope this procedure is going to get her back on her feet!

Tracy Richard has setup this gofundme and Dana Wyatt (Briana's Mom) is the beneficiary to help Tracy.  She will be helping Briana and Jacob with managing the funds to them, so they can pay for the necessary items to get Briana back on her feet to normal life :).
