Support for Truly's Family

Truly was admitted to the Atlanta Children's Hospital on February 9th.   She is extremely ill with what they believe could be a rare fatal autoimmune disease. There is blood in her lungs, her heart is enlarged & her kidneys have stopped working.

They have put her on a Ventilator as well as Continuous Dialysis for her kidneys & are giving her daily plasma transfusions to try to remove the bad antibodies that are attacking her lungs, kidneys & blood. She has slowly been improving.

They have been able to stop her lungs from bleeding for the time being & her kidney ultrasound shows that she will most likely not need a transplant, which they thought would be likely. They have given her drugs to paralyze her & are letting the machines do the work for her kidneys & lungs.

Yesterday was a good day & they are now giving her a less fatal prognosis, but we aren't out of woods yet.   A kidney biopsy is needed to determine exactly what is going on but she has to be more stable before they can perform that.

Anything you could give would help Truly's parents in the day to day expenses of having to travel to the hospital to be with her, time off of work as well as the medical expenses associated with long term hospital care and no insurance.
