Support for Tim

Tim was in an accident on May 3, 2018 in which scaffolding collapsed as he was helping a friend; and, he severely broke his ankle (both the tibia and fibula).  He was inpatient for 2 weeks with 2 surgeries then in rehab for physical & occupational therapies for 2 weeks before returning home.  On June 22, he had to have an unexpected revision surgery as several of the screws from the 2nd surgery were backing out; so, the surgeon put in more & longer screws to hold his ankle bones together.

Since that time, Tim has unfortunately had 3 major infections (cellulitis and now MRSA) over the surgical site and learned today that he will be on strong oral antibiotics for approximately 3 months until his ankle is healed.  Per the MD, if he then gets another infection, Tim will have to have the current hardware removed and replaced in another surgery and could have other major complications as well.

Even though he continues to be totally non-weight-bearing, Tim is grateful for the knee scooter that a church friend has loaned him.  His hospital bed in the living room has become the family's favorite place to gather as he is loved so much - especially by "Nurse Amber," the family's red lab!

Tim has several immediate medical expenses that are not covered by insurance including additional hyperbaric oxygen treatments (HBOT) to aid in the healing of his current ankle wound and infections and to boost his immunity system.  (Tim already knows the value and benefit of HBOT's as they have helped him tremendously since his TBI - Traumatic Brain Injury - in 2008; and, they already helped him heal well from his first 2 ankle surgeries.)  It is hoped that he will be able to have these additional treatments next week - Aug 4-10.

Tim has spent his entire life helping others  - first as a social worker for many years - working primarily with families who were touched by domestic and/or sexual violence - and all along with his friends and family and church communities.  Because he prefers to help others, Tim does not like for the spotlight to be turned on him; yet, he has agreed to having this news shared as his greatest desire is to be able to be well again; and, as he says, "...to contribute to my family's care and support again."
