Support for the Dewey Newlyweds

On Friday, September 14, Oakland's Dewey Academy (high school) community came together for a very special and unusual school event. A student who graduated last spring and his fiancee, who graduated one year earlier from Rudsdale High School, got married in a ceremony on the school’s lawn.
The couple, Anthony Jesse (AJ) Collins and Patrice Treadwell, got married because Treadwell is getting ready to head off for a career in the United States Marine Corps, and they want to make sure that they have family benefits. The couple have a child, Amila-Jesse Eleanor, who was next to them as they tied the knot.
The wedding was funded largely by Dewey staff who gave donations to help the couple have a memorable day.
This fund will ensure the happy couple can have a honeymoon and help the family pay for childcare as Anthony goes to college and work while Patrice is in the Marines. Thank you for your support!
