Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,
Priya experienced a medical emergency on Sunday, April 21st and she and her husband could use our support. She was transported from Dover, NH to Boston Mass General Hospital ICU in critical condition on Monday, the 22rd and has remained there, with a fantastic team of doctors and surgeons working around the clock to help her recover. Priya is strong and is fighting very hard, however she has an extensive road of recovery ahead of her and will need our support in multiple ways.
UPDATE AS OF MAY 1, 2019: Priya remains in critical condition in the ICU at Mass General and is in the care of the best surgeons, doctors and nurses in the world. You are likely wondering what caused this sudden hospitalization and how she is doing. We want Priya to be able to share her own story when/if she is ready but for now we can tell you, she was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis at the beginning of the week which unfortunately led to other life-threatening complications. Over the past week Priya has been through several surgeries and has had a lot of ups and downs, however she remains strong and her fighting spirit has pushed through all of what comes her way! This week’s goal is to recover from the surgeries and allow her body to heal. Your thoughts, prayers and well wishes mean the world to she and her husband, thank you for sending them along!
How can you help?
Financially: Donating to this fund is the most direct way. Update as of May 1, 2019: New goal of $20,000! As the scope of Priya’s health challenges have become more clear, it is apparent that her medical costs will be significant. Thank you all so much for your initial support, the funds raised thus far allowed Rodney to be close to Priya in her most critical times of need. Due to the complexity of her illness, Priya will have a lengthy medical stay in the hospital and then will likely require rehab care. With your support, we can help remove from their minds some of that medical cost burden and subsequent expenses arising from staying close to Priya in Boston.
Food: As you can imagine, planning out food is not a main priority and there's only so much hospital food or take-out options before that gets old. A meal-train will be organized when/if that is needed/wanted by her family.
Sharing: Priya has such an expansive network of family, friends and colleagues that this page might not have been shared with. Please feel free to forward to those who may be able to support now or in the future or receive updates even if they are unable to contribute. Facebook is a great way to share between friends, however we ask at this time that you refrain from posting directly onto Priya’s facebook personal page.
Mentally: Any thoughts, prayers, positive vibes or other means of positive thinking are also welcomed!
For the Medtronic Friends and Family: Priya has been a dedicated Medtronic employee for over 5 years, always striving to improve the lives of others. She would be very grateful for any support you can provide to help her improve in her own time of need. Any cards or well wishes from Medtronic can be placed on her desk in Portsmouth and will be collected and brought down to the hospital to share with her.
For the Wright-Pierce Friends and family: Rod is an integral part of the Building Services and Wright-Pierce family. Both Rod and Priya will appreciate any support we can offer them through this challenging life health event. Priya has always been kind enough to help support us while at conferences as well.
