Penelope’s Journey

Our Sweet Penelope was born on July 19th. She
appeared to be a healthy baby. Within days of
her birth she was back in the hospital as she was
having significant GI problems and Failing to
Thrive.

She  has spent time at Renown Medical Center
off and on for at least 6 weeks out of her short
life. In August she was taken by care flight to
Children’s Primary Hospital in Utah. In
September she had to have surgery to
put in a permanent gastric feeding tube as well
as a Fundoplication. 

Since then we have found out she has Trisomy
17, at this time we do not know what this means for her health and development.  She has seen a cardiologist, is waiting to see a geneticist and a neurologist.

Penelope is still in so much pain, doctors in Reno
don’t know what else to do for her, and are
sending her back to Primary Children’s Hospital in Utah. 

Our family is reaching out for help. Penelope’s 
mom is a single mother of 3 children. She
receives no support financially, or otherwise
from Penelope’s father. 

I am Penelope’s grandmother, and my daughter’s
support system. We need help for traveling
expenses to get Penelope this help that she
needs.
