Support for Luca's family as he fights leukemia
Donation protected
On October 20, 2020, your friend and colleague, Luca Zazzeron was given the unexpected diagnosis of B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) after presenting to the Emergency Room with fatigue and shortness of breath. He was immediately admitted for induction chemotherapy and will have to remain in the hospital for the next month. His is a life-threatening and aggressive form of leukemia, which means that Luca will have months of intensive chemotherapy with the hope of achieving remission and ultimately cure.
While this diagnosis would be challenging for anyone, this comes at a particularly overwhelming time for Luca. At 35 years of age, and in the midst of residency training in anesthesia at Mass General Hospital, he has two young children and a third due this January. Luca and his wife Valentina met and were married in Italy, where Luca completed his medical training in anesthesia. He and Valentina made the difficult decision to move to the United States so that Luca could further his career with research, knowing that with this move he would have to begin his anesthesia residency over again, this time far from family and friends who would typically be able to support his family during this difficult time. Furthermore, the global pandemic will make traveling to the US extremely challenging and in some cases impossible for Luca and Valentina’s usual support system.
We are asking for your financial support for Luca’s medical bills and living expenses for him, his wife Valentina, and their two (soon to be three) young children. Please make a donation, no matter how big or small, to this fund. All donations will go directly to Luca and his family while Luca is getting intensive treatment, which is anticipated to last many months.
Additionally, Luca asks that you keep him and his family in your prayers as he goes through this difficult journey.
