Support for Jackie and Doug McCallister

Donation protected
We are writing this letter on behalf of Jackie and Doug McCallister. On Thanksgiving Day, Jackie’s water broke at 21 weeks. She was placed on strict bedrest for several weeks and admitted to the hospital on December 14th. The initial goal was to see her reach 26 weeks, because at that point she was given the hope that the baby would have a 90% chance of survival.

In the time she was in the hospital, and on strict bedrest, Jackie has gone without pay for the past two months (both she and her husband Doug work in the hospitality industry). She spent Thanksgiving in the emergency room. She spent Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve (which is also Jackie and Doug’s 2nd wedding anniversary) in her hospital room. Jackie will also require more time to recover from the C-section before returning to work. Doug, during this time, has also missed work to be by Jackie’s side whenever possible, and is going to need additional time off.

During the time she spent in the hospital, Jackie’s condition began to improve, to the point where she felt comfortable and confident enough to give the baby a name. She then told us said name as her gift to us on Christmas Day when we visited with her in her room. She named the child Eliana Harper.

On January 5th, Jackie gave birth to Eliana Harper McCallister, weighing 2 pounds, 3 oz, one day shy of 27 weeks. On Sunday she was baptized by Father Russell of St Patrick’s Church. And on Monday, January 7th, she passed into the loving arms of our Lord.

On Friday, January 18th, Eliana Harper will receive a full Christian burial service at 12 noon in the chapel at St. Patrick’s Church located at 7900 Bee Ridge Rd. Her ashes will then be lovingly laid in the church’s memorial garden.

We are reaching out for help to cover medical expenses, funeral costs, and assistance to help cover any bills that may have accrued during the time spent in the hospital and that will come in during the time it will take for Jackie and Doug to grieve for the loss of their only child. So many of you have asked what you can do to help in this, their most important time of need. What we are asking is for something, anything you can spare. If you can’t afford to help, then please share this so that someone else may read it and feel compelled to donate.

We hope you will join us in praying for this loving couple who so badly wanted to be parents and must now go through what no parent should ever have to suffer through. We hope and pray that anyone reading this can help.
