George Cool – Gone to soon


On November 6th,­ George's life was brutally taken away. We, his family and friends, are still deeply shocked by his tragic and unexpected death.

George is mourned by family and friends in Jamaica, Germany and beyond. We would like to honour his life with a dignified funeral. Unfortunately, the costs for his funeral exceed the means of his family. Therefore we are now asking you for your support. Even the smallest donation will help and be greatly appreciated.

Most of you know him as George Cool, a pioneer of Caribbean culture in Berlin. He not only introduced many people to Jamaican food, but also strongly influenced the Reggae music scene in Germany. His music nights and events brought together Reggae fans from different continents and generations. He was valued and loved by his family and friends for his humour, hospitality and generosity.

In 2010, George returned to Jamaica where he spent most of his time in nature; living a peaceful life, growing fruits and vegetables and taking care of his goats.
