Tragic Death of Adriane Day from Head-On-Collision

https://news4winnipeg.com/fatal-collision-powerview/ On January 4th, at approximately 5PM, a head-on-collision took the life of my Mother,  Adriane Day.  She was 54 years old and a new grandmother to my 1 year old daughter. We had just celebrated her first Birthday on December 12th and had a beautiful Christmas and New Year's Eve/Day that we had also shared with my spouse's parents for the first time as one big family. My Mother had flown in my brother from Ontario so that he could be there for these occasions for the first time in 2 years and also so that he could meet his niece for the first time.

She leaves behind her husband, David Day, and three children in their twenties. I am the oldest at 29, my name is Meghann Day, and my two younger brothers are Adam (27) and Tobias (26). I don’t have Facebook but you can find me on Instagram by the username @__metalia. Both my brothers can be found on Facebook and Instagram by their names.

It had been such a beautiful day and the warm weather had compacted the snow on the roads. As night fell, those roads became icy. She had embarked on a trip out to Pine Falls, Manitoba. She has made this trip countless times in worse weather and was confident in her studded tires.

As she was making a corner turn on the 304 (approx. 7KM from Pine Falls), an opposing car with 3 occupants had started sliding on the ice. They over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle causing their front right bumper to collide with my mother's left front bumper. At 90KM an hour, the weight of the opposing vehicle caused the roof to cave in and push the wheel of the car on the front left side into the near middle. She had no time to react and her death was instant. All airbags had been deployed and the hood of the opposing vehicle was found 80 feet from the scene of the crash.

This was a freak accident that couldn't have happened at a more tragic time. My father is 64, and has been on medical leave for 2 years. They're cutting him off of funding this month. The mortgage was in my mother's name and was purchased from my Grandmother before she passed a few years ago. She was making a living as a Health Care Aid at Selkirk Hospital in the Cancer Care department. My father was dependent on her as he still has another surgery that has a 50% chance of relieving him of his painful condition. He also has an appointment later this month to have his spine looked at as his mobility in his legs have been troubling (possibly from the accumulated epidurals from multiple surgeries). She had wanted him to go for the surgery and had intended to support him until he was able to retire.

My youngest brother lives in the same home and contributes to the bills in the household in order to give support to my parents. With this tragedy, my Father and my Brother are facing difficult times and are unsure of how they are going to continue with the current financials, not to mention the funeral/memorial costs that won’t be covered by MPI.

Please, help me help my family. My Father was so sure he was going to be the one to pass before my Mother with his health in decline as of late. She wanted him to have this surgery but he's fearful that it will be for naught. Please help me in encouraging him to better his health so that he can enjoy his grandchild and all future grandchildren.
