Sergio's Dream(er) Assistance

I am raising funds for my friend, Sergio Lopez-Hernandez.  In early May 2018, the day his DACA work permit was due to expire, Sergio was told he no longer could work in the US.  He was immediately dismissed from his jobs and his school and left with no resources to live on.  He had applied to renew his work permit at the beginning of April 2018, but is now being told that there is no expected date for renewal, as Congress has not decided whether to continue the Dreamers program. Here is his story:

Sergio was brought to the United States from Mexico at the age of 2 months old.  He has not lived in Mexico since then.  At the age of 3 he was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, an eye disease that left him completely blind.  He received little to no family support for his disease during his childhood and at age 17, he left his home and family to find better opportunities.  When the Dream Act was passed, Sergio found the opportunities he needed to work and go to school.  He got through college with help from friends and working at summer camps, and was able to get financial assistance as a result of the Dream Act.  Sergio has been working hard towards his goal of becoming a teacher for the visually impaired while he also has worked several jobs to help him remain here in the Bay Area.   Now those opportunities have vanished, at least for the time being.

Sergio has no way to earn money right now and needs assistance immediately.  The money we raise will help Sergio with basic living expenses while he tries to figure out what he can do next to stay in the US and keep pursuing his dream of being a teacher.
