Support for Chloe Checco and Family

As many of you know, Chloe has struggled most of her life with health issues deriving from McCune Albright Syndrome. This syndrome comes with many obstacles, one of the largest being fibrous dysplasia. Most of Chloe’s skull is made of this diseased bone, which causes her a lot of pain. Along with the pain, it also causes disaster within her skull. Some of the fibrous dysplasia in her skull is currently growing around both of her optic nerves impacting her vision. On December 13th she will be undergoing a craniotomy on the right side of her head at Mayo Clinic Rochester to remove the diseased bone that is growing around the right optic nerve. If all goes well, she will only need to spend a couple of days in the ICU. During her recovery time, her neurosurgeon hopes that her hemoglobin will rise enough to perform her second craniotomy on January 24th. Hopefully, she will not need a blood transfusion. If these surgeries are not done, the bone will continue to grow around both nerves until she goes blind. The surgeries each hold a 5% chance of permanently blinding Chloe, so the doctors feel it is best to do one eye at a time. Chloe will be taking a semester off from classes and work, to recover at home. Please pray for Chloe and the Checco family during this difficult time.
