On December 17 of last year, our dad, Randy Reynolds, suffered a stroke. He was coaching the Wyoming Cowboys boys' basketball team at Northwest High School and thanks to the help of the Wyoming coaches and fans, he was immediately taken to the hospital and treated by UC's Neuro ICU team. He lost function on his left side and had to fight for his life. Through strength and perseverance, Randy survived the stroke and has been putting all of his efforts into rehabbing and piecing his life back together. This has proven to be the challenge of a lifetime.

As his daughters, our roles as his greatest supporters and biggest cheerleaders have been put on hold to navigate the frustrating waters of insurance cut offs, age restrictions, and facilities with hidden costs and fees. He does not qualify for Medicare or elderly services because of his age. Each day has been dedicated to finding a way to keep him in a safe place and facilitate his recovery. He is currently unable to be home as he cannot be left alone due to fall risk. We have deduced that he will need to continue his rehab in an assisted living facility that has 24/7 care, because of falls and help with showering, dressing, etc. Insurance continues to deny our claims to keep him in skilled nursing, so we are currently paying thousands of dollars out of pocket on a weekly basis. The 6 months following a major stroke is the most crutial time for regaining brain functionality and neuroplasticity.

For now, the assisted living facility is the best place for him to be as they're able to provide him with the care and rehabilitation that is needed for him to go on and live independently.  As these costs add up quickly with no help from his insurance company, we are asking for help with the assisted living costs. Our dad is a proud man but we have to appeal to loved ones to help him in his recovery.

Continued prayers and positive vibes are always needed. We are hoping to give him a chance to focus solely on his recovery so he can get back on the bench by next season.

Thank you for your support, prayers, and kind words.

As our dad continues on this journey, we want to say thank you to all whom have been so kind and generous. Randy truly appreciates each of you. He officially moved back home in Wyoming in July. He is doing well with the transition and has been able to return to work part time.

Unfortunately, his insurance once again decided he had exhausted his therapeutic resources, so, Randy is paying out-of-pocket to continue physical therapy. His Physical Therapist, Jake, has been kind and generous in accommodating his needs and continuing his care, despite the ongoing issues with insurance. We appreciate his and his co-worker's ongoing persistence in advocating for our dad's care. Randy continues to work hard in therapy and devote most of his time and energy to his recovery.

We are so proud of our dad and look forward to being there as he continues to make strides through hard-work and perseverance. Our family is eternally grateful for all of the love and support we continue to receive. ❤️

Hello friends and family! Just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for the prayers, kind words, and generous donations toward our dad's recovery. We truly appreciate each and every one of you for helping make this next step a reality.

Randy moved into Brookdale in Finneytown this past Sunday and has been adjusting to the move. I'm sure he would appreciate visitors! Please remember to keep visits brief as his brain injury requires extra rest in this time of healing. He has started working with his home health physical therapist, Jake, who has been an awesome motivator for our dad. He will be doing both PT and OT five days a week and is looking forward to putting in overtime to reach his goal of independence. Without the added stress of insurance cut offs week after week, we hope he can put all of his energy into therapy!

Once again, my dad, my sisters and I would like to offer our sincerest gratitude for all who have helped support us during this difficult time for our family. My dad was truly touched by all of the love, support, and generosity from everyone. We are doing all we can to help support our dad and facilitate his recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to trek the long road to recovery. God Bless ❤️
