Support for baby Joey and the Nolan Family

Donation protected
Angela and I first met JoeyLynn back in October. We were 3 moms, all pregnant with our second child, chasing after our almost 2 year olds at a local kids’ gym. We bonded over first trimester exhaustion, mombrain, and the lack of control we had over our toddlers. We were instant friends and so relieved to be on this crazy adventure together.

JoeyLynn had Joey on April 18, fifteen days before her scheduled c-section. He was 7lbs 2oz of perfect baby boy and love at first sight. The perfect addition to the Nolan family.

3 months and many unplanned trips to the childrens’ hospital later, the Nolan family received the devastating news that their beautiful baby boy has a rare genetic condition with an unfair prognosis.

How awful would it be to watch your baby boy suffer, all the while accruing unimaginable debt from medical bills and medicine that won’t even save his life, just lessen the pain. I can’t imagine a worse nightmare as a mother myself.

The Nolan family needs help during this extremely difficult time. JoeyLynn is a respiratory therapist for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She will have to return to work soon to help with medical costs when she should be spending every second possible with Joey, making memories  and cherishing the time he is blessed with.

Joey has a mutation of the TBC1d24 gene. It is super rare (less than 100 cases worldwide, 40 in the US) and not much is known about it except that there are many variants of the mutation and all come with different manifestations. Joey suffers from seizures that will increase in intensity and frequency and eventually become resistant to his medications. Because he is so young and the condition causes progressive neurodegeneration, he may have developmental and behavioral delays.

The Nolan family has a very uncertain road ahead and with our monetary help we can help give JoeyLynn more time at home with her baby. He can stay in his mother’s loving arms, exactly where he should be, where he feels the safest, and most loved. Our donations will go towards medical bills, childcare, or whatever the Nolan family needs at this truly devastating time. Every bit helps! Thank you!
