After several years of playing and growing together, we’re excited to announce that we’re recording an EP! As great as those A+ quality live recordings on SoundCloud are, it’s time to have some nicely recorded tracks. These will make us look a lot more professional when distributing material to booking managers and will help for an overall better listening experience for friends, family, and followers! Ultimately, we’ll be able to play more shows and put out more music!
We plan on doing this in January, but we need your support! We’re looking to raise $2,000 for recording time and mastering.
About us:
We’re Dissimilar South, a southern-folk band formed in Chapel Hill in 2016 by Rebecca Chaisson, Blake Dodge, Maddie Fisher, and Carter Hodge. We write and perform music inspired by experiences across a wide spectrum of emotion and content. We grapple with topics including sexual violence, queerness in the south, growing up, and that thing that you can’t seem to not write about--love and loss. We’ve played at venues such as Motorco, Local 506, and the Cat’s Cradle--though we’re looking to expand upon this list!
