Support Daaron Gomez

Eight weeks ago I received a phone call that made me fall to my knees in the middle of the street – my dad had a seizure while at work and was in the hospital. That day, we found out that the seizure was a result of a brain mass. Over the next few weeks, my dad went through a series of MRI’s, CT scans, bloodwork and lumbar punctures, though none gave any further insight into what this might be. Three weeks ago, my dad underwent a biopsy and partial removal of a tumor located above his forehead. Last week, we received results that this glial tumor was graded IV on a scale of I-IV…it was cancer. My dad was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme. This week he began chemotherapy, and in the coming days he will be preparing to begin a six-week radiation therapy treatment.

My family remains positive and hopeful through the love and support offered by our friends and family. This experience has been stressful and scary, but throughout this my dad continues to be the strongest one. We continue to ask for your thoughts and prayers as we fight this battle with cancer.

My dad has always taken care of his family and everyone around him, and now when he needs it most, we hope to be able to take care of him. My mother has been dedicated to being by my dads’ side through every step of this journey, so that he does not have to fight alone.
