Support Bambi's Gender Affirmative Surgery

Hello community! My name is Bambi Phu. I am a Black trans woman, I am 20 years old, and I have been medically transitioning for the past two years. I am reaching out to the vast network of those who believe in helping a young Black trans woman actualize her gender goals. Help me not only survive but thrive in a world designed to destroy me and women like me. This fundraiser is directly financing: - Out of state gender affirmative surgery - Travel expenses for me, for my support/caretaker - Aftercare for the surgery (food, a place to stay, follow ups with the medical provider) - Compensation for the period of time I will not be able to work (I will literally not be able to physically work or do anything by myself for over a week, and then will have limited mobility for about 6 weeks) The surgery will be completed in 2 parts, so the recovery period is going to be about 2 months altogether. This procedure will feminize my body in a way that is proportional to my identity, something I have had to fight for my entire life. I am being forced to seek this gender affirmative surgery out of the state of California due to the lack of advocacy for young Black trans women in the healthcare system, my surgery is being made inaccessible to me, and the timeframe being provided for the revision is unacceptable. This procedure is absolutely necessary to my mental and physical wellbeing, and it is imperative that it is performed as soon as possible.  I have been very unwell in trying to accomplish this on my own. After years of drug addiction, being forced to do survival sex work, and an endless cycle of nightlife rituals that were doing nothing but destroying my body and mind I have found myself here:  I am sober, I have an affinity for God, and I have decided to take control of my life.  I am so grateful to be in the position I am now, but I can no longer rely on sex work and nightlife to get me where I need to be.
