Help Caleb Continue His Studies
Donation protected
UPDATE as of 10:09 p.m., 29 JANUARY 2019: I am keeping this up temporarily as a number of people have committed to pledge their support later on. All of which I would pool and apply to my Spring term. But as of today, thanks to a $20,000 interest-free loan from a friend, donations from the Philippines, and the $16,000+ I have raised here, I have completed the amount I need to settle my Fall term balance.
I am forever grateful to all of you.

My name is Caleb Galaraga and I am appealing for your help.
I am a current graduate student at Columbia Journalism School and need to settle my fall term balance to continue my studies by Jan. 21st, Monday. (UPDATE: Extended to 31 January 2019).
Columbia has always been my dream. I was confident this institution would improve my skills in reporting stories that highlight critical social issues and convey the truth with accuracy and excellence--and it has. Unfortunately, my journey might be cut short. The loan I was counting on suddenly fell through. I have written letters to some prominent individuals in my community but it hasn’t borne any fruit. At this point, though seemingly impossible, I still trust that good things can happen if I try.
My goal after graduation is to write stories that will shed light on issues affecting marginalized and vulnerable communities. I also intend to pass along everything I learned to peers and colleagues in my home country, the Philippines.
Any form of help will be appreciated -- even by just spreading the word. But donations above $25 will merit a free copy of my book, The Power of Speaking Life, which I have self-published in August 2018. Thank you so much.
UPDATE as of 9:21 p.m., 22 January 2019: After speaking with financial aid and admin, I was told I have until 31 January 2019 to raise the funds. I am persisting and have more people to talk to in the coming days about this. Thank you for everyone of you who's rooting for me. #fighting
UPDATE as of 10:57 p.m., 21 January 2019: I have asked for an extension from the university for this concern and praying it will be granted. Please do wish me well and I will keep everyone posted tomorrow. Thank you for all your support.
I am forever grateful to all of you.
