Brees’ Surgery Fund

This gofundme is to help fund for the surgery for my 7 month old lab puppy, Brees. I recently found out that he has a rare and serious form of Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) in his back right leg and is in need of immediate surgery.  OCD is an inflammatory disease in which diseased cartilage separates from the bone and it has no known cause. The vet told me Brees is the worst case of OCD he has ever seen and that his surgery will cost around $3,000. I’m a college student at Purdue University and cant afford the surgery he desperately needs on top of the payments needed for school. I’ve made the decision to give him back to my girlfriend in Florida because I don’t want the cold Midwest weather to hurt him anymore than he already is. My girlfriend and I rescued Brees and his other four litter mates when they were 6 weeks old. Brees was the runt of the litter and weighed only 3 pounds while his siblings weighed 6-9 pounds. We almost lost him when he was a young pup because of his poor health and to think that I might have to give him up due to lack of funds for this surgery breaks my heart. Watching him grow up to be the goofy, loving, patient, and gentle boy he is has been the most amazing experience of my life. I love Brees with all my heart and I don’t want to fail him by not being able to give him the surgery he needs to be a happy and healthy pup again. He truly is a life changing puppy and my life would be empty without waking up to his smile every morning.
