AUTS McGill's Into the Woods!

McGill University’s only musical theatre group, the Arts Undergraduate Theatre Society, is gearing up for its 2018 production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods. Rehearsals are underway, designers are at work, and the production team is hard at work raising the funds needed for our theatre dreams to come true!
Theatre friends, this is where we need your help. Evidently, there are a lot of costs associated with producing full-scale musicals. The team behind Into the Woods, both behind the scenes and onstage, consists entirely of volunteers (and mostly students). While we have a number of small-scale and large-scale fundraising events planned, it’s just not enough to cover our production costs. Every contribution will help us reach our goal of producing a professional-level show, here at McGill.
About the budget
We have set a small goal of 2500$. These funds would go towards materials for our design elements: brand new sets, costumes, and props, all designed by students. However, there are many other costs in our near future, including space rental, equipment rental, advertising, printing costs, costs of rights, and much more. We would be very grateful for contributions above our goal, to help offset other costs.
About the show
Into the Woods, a truly classic musical by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, is a retelling and reimagination of several classic fairytales. It is funny, thought-provoking, and poignant. We feel this production will truly resonate with McGill audiences, as well as audiences in the wider Montreal area. We hope to that Into the Woods will be AUTS’s biggest hit yet!

AUTS (Arts Undergraduate Theatre Society) is McGill’s student-run musical theatre group, producing one major musical every school year. Past productions include Heathers: the Musical, Rent, West Side Story, Chicago, and more. As McGill’s only theatre group devoted specifically to musical theatre, it is a place where students can get involved in the community and find a second home on campus.
