In the early hours of March 23rd, Andy was returning from a fun night with friends in San Diego. At around 2:30am a Lyft car picked him and his friend Giao up for the short ride back to the hotel. Little did we know that only minutes later the world as we knew it would be thrown into grief and unimaginable territory for the families of them both. The car they were traveling in, was hit by a drunk driver going at speeds close to 100MPH and they were sent flying off the freeway down an embankment. Giao sadly passed away in the accident and words cannot express the sadness we have for this loss.
Andy was thrown from the vehicle and has suffered severe brain injuries. His condition is stable however he continues to require 24 hour monitoring in hospital as he begins his long slow recovery. He is often very awake after a weeklong coma and is very aware of his surroundings as well recognizing friends and family, waving and using hand signals for limited communication.
Those of you who know Andy well know that he is very active and in his professional life he gives 110% all of the time. He is a very skilled stylist and salon owner however in this profession if you are not behind the chair you are not making money. Unfortunately it will be a while before he can work his magic in the salon.
Andy has always given back to the community in many ways whether it is making donations to local charities, organizing toy drives for kids or just in general helping those in need. He has a huge heart and always puts others first, taking care of himself last. He brings so much joy to so many people.
At this difficult time while Andy cannot work, we ask that if you can, please donate back to Andy to assist with the day to day finances that we all deal with in our lives. This will go a long way to alleviating additional stresses in his recovery and allow him and his family to focus on his health and wellbeing. We thank you so much in advance of your donation. I’m sure its not a situation Andy ever thought he would be in however I think you will agree its time to give back to someone in need who has given so much to us all.
