Barry, Kristin, Ryan and Lauren Andres live in Bartlett, IL and have always been heavily involved in the community. Barry generously volunteers his time coaching football and lacrosse for his son. He has also given the community something special to look forward to each and every Halloween with an amazing display that he put his heart into. Kristin has also given so much of her time and energy supporting their kids' school and extracurricular activities, including her holding board member positions on the PTW and multiple youth sport leagues.
Two months ago, Barry left work to see his doctor about a cyst on his leg. He was referred to a dermatologist for additional symptoms and a biopsy confirmed the unfortunate news...he has Melanoma. Immediately, Barry saw a surgical oncologist and received a PET Scan, which gave even further bad news...it was Stage 4 and cancer had reached his lymph nodes. He is now seeing an Oncologist and receiving chemo treatment in hopes of beating this devastating disease.
As Barry bravely battles cancer, he has had to go on disability, which only covers 50% of his pay. His wife is working but has been unable to find full-time work. Combine that with a sudden and unexpected 15,000 out of pocket expense and it's not hard to understand the bleak situation this family is dealing with. In fact, after exhausting virtually all other avenues of income, including retirement and college savings, they are at risk of losing their house.
This wonderful, caring family is at a crossroads and desperately needs your help. It's times like these where we need to gather together as a community and give back to those who've given us so much.
